Cogratulations to the Bristol C team who in their first season have secured at the national finals, yet to be decided in the last match if they will take the group title and go into a playoff with the 4th place B team to play in the B's national event. A huge credit to all players and the captain Russell Owen for a fine job almost done!
The Ladies look certain for a spot too as Oxford Ladies B would need to win all 4 and Bristol lose all 4 and the 3 in between to win 2 each so should be another national finals for the ladies. Well done and well skippered by Ruth Henley.
If the B team can just beat Wiltshire at the next match, that will guarantee the playoff against the C team champions to fight for a place in the B's national event. The group is still very tightly packed so still even possible to finish in a more comfortable position and qualify outright so keep pushing!!
The A team race is still too close to call yet, with Bristol having played the most matches and sat in 3rd currently. Looks like the last match against Hampshire will decide which of the two should take the final A's national spot.
One thing for sure looks like the last match of the season should produce one hell of an atmosphere all round!!
A few points to be aware of this county season:
- venues only offering up one table per team will be asked to start at 12 noon
- if not enough tables are available then not all 4 teams will be on the same home/ away rota so please check fixtures----
Following grumbles on dress code, it is expected ALL players to wear county attire. If an opposition doesn’t they can be refused to play before the frame begins NOT after.
